Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn't everyone get admitted into the Mission?
All potential lodgers are vetted before being allowed to lodge in the Mission. Here are just a few reasons people may not be allowed in. First, the Mission stays at capacity most days. If there is an opening, it is usually filled within 24 hours, and most people stay many months as we assit them in rebuilding their lives. Second, a person must be able to walk up the stairs safely due to our dorms being on the second floor. Third, a person's recent criminal record or violent criminal record may pose too great a risk to lodgers and staff to allow admittance. The same risk may be true of those with severe mental illness and not on medication. There are dozens of other reasons a person may not be allowed to enter, but these few represent a sample.
